Ingredients
- 1 small butternut squash (about 3 2/3 cups / 550 g peeled)
- 1 small sweet potato (about 1 2/3 cups / 250 g peeled)
- 1/2 onion (about 1/3 cup / 45 g, only from 8 months)
- 1.4 oz chicken breast fillet (40 g) for a 6-month-old baby / 2.1 oz (60 g) for an 8-month-old baby
- 4 teaspoons olive oil
Instructions
- Wash it, remove the top, then cut it in half. Next, remove the seeds inside, then peel it (I explained a peeling method in the butternut squash soup recipe here). Then cut it into pieces about 1/2 inch (1 cm) thick. Place the butternut squash pieces in the steamer basket.
- Wash it, peel it, then cut it into slices about 1/4 inch (0.5 cm) thick. Place the sliced sweet potato in the steamer basket with the butternut squash.
- Peel it, cut it in half, and place it with the sweet potato and butternut squash.
- I recommend not using too much mineral water for steaming so this water is more concentrated for the “broth.” In the Cookeo, I pressure-cooked everything for 15 minutes. For regular steaming, allow 20 to 22 minutes: the vegetables should be very tender!
- Meanwhile, cut the chicken into small cubes. I used chicken tenderloins, but chicken breast fillet works very well too.
- Steam for about 4 minutes. Check that the chicken cubes are fully cooked through.
- Place the vegetables in the blender with the olive oil. Blend!
- Spoon the vegetable purée into the containers.
- For a 6-month-old baby: Blend the chicken together with the vegetables
- For a baby from 8 months: blend the chicken finely, separately from the vegetables. This adds a little texture to the dish!
- Then pour the cooking water into a bottle or sippy cup so baby can drink it (lukewarm or at room temperature) while eating the meal.
