Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries

Ingredients

  1. 1 lb sweet potatoes
  2. 1 tbsp avocado oil (or extra virgin olive oil)
  3. ½ tbsp cornstarch
  4. 1 tsp kosher salt
  5. ½-1 teaspoon seasoning of choice

Instructions

  1. Peel the sweet potatoes, then slice them thinly. About ¼-inch thick.
  2. Place the sliced potatoes in a mixing bowl and cover with cold water. Soak the potatoes for 10 minutes.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F for 5 minutes before adding the potatoes.
  4. Remove the potatoes from the water and transfer them to a clean kitchen towel. Gently pat the potatoes with the towel until they are dry.
  5. Transfer the potatoes to a clean and dry mixing bowl. Drizzle them with oil. Use your hands or tongs to gently toss the sweet potatoes until coated.
  6. Sprinkle the cornstarch over the potatoes. Use tongs to gently toss them in the cornstarch until covered. Add the salt and toss once more. If using optional spices, add them and toss until coated.
  7. Place the sweet potato fries in the air fryer basket or tray and spread them in an even layer, being careful not to overlap or crowd them. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to cook the fries in two batches.
  8. Air fry for 10 minutes or until the sweet potato fries are crispy and golden brown yet tender on the inside. Check after 10 minutes, then add up to 2 more minutes for more crispiness if needed. *Note: If you don't want any browning on the sweet potato fries, air fry them for 10 minutes instead of 12 minutes.
  9. Cool for a couple of minutes before serving with your favorite dipping sauce.
